Traditional Shotokan Karate According to the Principles of ITKF & HNKI
The term Honbu Dojo comes from Japanese and refers to the headquarters dojo of an organization. In traditional karate, a Honbu Dojo serves as the technical and organizational center where knowledge, experience, and the values of Karate-Do are preserved and passed on.
Its Role in Traditional Karate
Traditional karate relies on the transmission of proven principles and techniques from one generation to the next. A Honbu Dojo helps maintain high technical standards and supports authentic instruction in traditional karate. The focus is not on competition success, but on developing technique, character, and a deeper understanding of Karate-Do.
The DTSKF Honbu Dojo
The DTSKF Honbu Dojo in Berlin is a central point of reference for traditional Shotokan Karate in Germany. As the headquarters dojo of the DTSKF, it maintains close ties with the ITKF (International Traditional Karate Federation) and the HNKI (Hidetaka Nishiyama Karate Institute).
In addition to seminars and training courses, the Honbu Dojo supports technical standards, Dan examinations, and the continued transmission of the teachings of Hidetaka Nishiyama. At the same time, it promotes the values that have always been at the heart of traditional karate: respect, discipline, and responsibility.
